Residential home Treehouse design

Inspiring forest adventures with amazing treehouses

Enchanting treetop living

For a project in Oxfordshire, we have been commissioned to design the house’s exterior alterations, interior design and gardens.

We love projects where our three HollandGreen divisions – HG Architecture, HG Garden Design and HG Interior Design – collaborate in parallel for a harmonious and holistic approach to creating wonderful living spaces.

Within the garden design, we are incorporating an incredible, luxury family treehouse scheme, and we are excited to be working with renowned sustainably-led company Blue Forest Treehouses.

Blue Forest creates magical treehouses that can incorporate rope bridges, tree decks, sunken fire pits, slides and play equipment, with each commission, such as this one, bespoke and hand-built.The plan is for the interior of the treehouse to be an open-plan space with an organic curved kitchenette and a cosy lounge area. As Blue Forest Treehouses say – a perfect haven for family time, parties and sleep-overs under the canopy.

There will be a number of lighting arrangements to create a visually stunning building both day and night. The treehouse will also have a thermostatically controlled under floor heating system making it a fantastic space in the garden regardless of the time of year – the perfect place to make family memories.

Built to the highest standard, each element of the treehouse will be designed with context in mind, so the materials, size and scale will suit the site and provide a wonderful feature for the garden.

The exterior of the treehouses can be finished in a number of natural materials depending on the client’s requirements and the treehouse style; from cedar tongue and groove, cedar shingles and copper to name a few. Hand-made hardwood, double-glazed windows and doors will be used throughout. Over the course of its natural weathering, the timber cladding will weathers to a silvery grey colour, blending in naturally with its surrounding vegetation.

Sustainability

Blue Forest has a pioneering approach to the design and construction of sustainable and environmentally friendly buildings.  They aim to ensure that the timber in the proposed treehouse will be sustainably harvested and certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) and all materials used will be as sustainable as possible.
