Award Win! We’re BUILD’s Best UK Architectural Design Practice 2020

Our Architectural business has been recognised by the design, property & construction industries

We’re delighted and honoured to have won a top accolade in BUILD’s Design Awards 2020, which recognises outstanding work as chosen by industry professionals and peers.  The entries were judged on technical expertise, dedication to client service and satisfaction, and commitment to excellence, quality and innovation.

We’re very proud of this recognition, which comes in our 10th anniversary year. We’ve grown from founders Ben Holland and Stephen Green starting out, to a thriving 35-member team, and this expansion has seen us move into Landscape Design and Interior Design.  We’d like to thank all our clients, past and current, for giving us the opportunity to work on some amazing projects.

Much more than bricks and mortar, we know that great architecture is about people; about the lives they live and the spaces we help create.

It’s about really listening to our clients to understand their needs and how they relax and move around their homes. And it’s this insight that creates unique, beautiful spaces that transform living and evoke emotions of wellbeing and calm.

Above all, it’s the collaboration with our clients which is, we believe, where the magic happens, building a bond that lasts far longer than the end of every project.

Founder Stephen Green says: “We are thrilled to have won this Award, which is a testament to the creativity and innovation of our team of architects, designers and planners. Right from the beginning we have placed the highest emphasis on exceptional client experience – we listen to people to understand their lifestyles and create living spaces that work for them  – I think the judges particularly picked up on this.”

Digital Design, 3D models & Virtual Reality

“The BUILD Awards look for innovation and collaboration, and the role of technology in our practice is key to both,” says founder Ben Holland.

“We use 360 degree cameras to assist in the production of digital 3D and Virtual Reality models, so our clients can ‘walk around’ their homes and input into the designs right from the start. Not only can we together hone the designs to exactly what they want, but this avoids costly changes later in the build too.  The transition to homeworking has been smooth for us as our architects and designers work on the same digital design even when they’re in different locations- it’s how we keep our strong team ethos together, and we’ve been doing this for some time with our international clients.”

Sustainability

Over the past few years HollandGreen has seen a significant increase in projects where sustainability has been a key request from our clients – across the design of their homes from the fabric of the building and heating systems – right through to the build process using environmentally-friendly and recycled materials where possible.

We are delighted that our contemporary replacement new build home on the borders of Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds – with sustainability at the heart of its design – has recently been shortlisted as a finalist in the Large House of the Year in the British Homes 2020 Awards.

Associate Director Alain Torri says: “We want to lead with sustainability across all our projects. There are some incredible emerging technologies that enable sustainability to underpin beautiful design, and we are delighted that so many of our clients want to build their living spaces in an environmentally-friendly way.”
