River House – Windows are in!
Over the past few weeks we have been updating you on the progress of our pavilion style waterside home in Oxfordshire. Our recent site visit, however, was particularly exciting. To make sure our clients could enjoy uninterrupted views across the River Thames, the rear of the house completely opens up with floor to ceiling windows and sliding doors. Today was the day for these to be installed!
You can really appreciate the sheer size of the sliding doors when putting in a reference point – like a site foreman for example.
Although when installed the doors will slide effortless they are quite heavy. To help maneuver the doors a glass vacuum lifter was used which took the majority of the weight.
Despite the brute-looking machinery the process requires a lot of precision and slow movements to align the doors into their place.
The doors are then linked to the sliding mechanisms to make sure they can be effortlessly opened up to the rear.
The glazing (windows and glass doors) for this project have been supplied by Fine Point Glass.
