Under Construction – holiday cottage in Oxfordshire.

Our client purchased this worker’s cottage in a picturesque village in Oxfordshire intending to transform it into a perfect holiday home in the UK. The cottage has been extended over time into a spacious home, and while previous works have been sympathetic to the original home, they lacked all the comforts of modern living.

Since the home is in Conservation Area, all of the external modifications (including windows) had to be sympathetic and compliment the original build. Below is a before and after of the windows being updated to double glazed lighter framed ones.

The inside of the home was stripped bare of the scars of past additions. Exposing the original features and creating vaulted ceilings will make the living areas feel much more spacious and airy.

The original stonework will be stitched while the wood elements are sandblasted to clean any accumulated impurities, while the original fireplace,  key feature of the home, will be gently restored to its past glory.
