Honeywell Equestrian Barn, Cotswolds

A Timeless Equestrian Estate

Honeywell Equestrian Barn reimagines a traditional stable courtyard while expanding the estate’s equine facilities to include an American-style barn, arenas, paddocks, lunging pens, and horse walkers. The design reflects the natural evolution of the country estate, sitting comfortably alongside the Georgian manor house and original stable block.

The new stable building is contemporary yet respectful in its hierarchy and materiality, using a stone plinth, timber cladding, and metal roof to respond to the rural setting. Stables are arranged around a central courtyard inspired by Georgian architecture, featuring arched entrances and a simple ornamental clock tower, while maximising daylight and ventilation.

Internally, classic English details such as exposed beams and brickwork are blended with American barn influences, creating open, light-filled spaces with natural wood finishes. A restrained, earthy palette and traditional equestrian touches are paired with practical layouts, clear circulation, and well-defined zones to ensure efficient, safe, and horse-centred operation throughout the equestrian centre.

Honeywell Equestrian Barn is the refurbishment of an existing traditional stable courtyard and the expansion of the equine facilities to include a new American-style stable barn as well as a new outdoor riding arena. The new stable building will be distinctly different in its architectural design but will nonetheless respects the hierarchy of the house and its rural setting, with external materials including a stone plinth, timber cladding and a metal sheet roof.

On the interior design, we have blended classic English elements such as exposed beams and brickwork, with American barn features including wide, open spaces and natural wood finishes giving a warm, elegant, and functional interior.

We will incorporate traditional touches such as wrought iron fixtures, leather accents, and vintage equestrian artwork, while adding practicality with built-in cabinetry, saddle racks, and ample seating areas for a refined yet functional space.

A neutral, earthy colour palette with tones of deep greens, browns, and burgundies will complement the natural materials of oak, leather, and stone to evoke a timeless and sophisticated aesthetic.

The design considers natural lighting, climate control, and access to fresh water essential to maintaining a healthy and stress-free environment for the horses.

We look forward to sharing more as the design and construction progresses.
