From Holland and Green to HollandGreen: Our Story
Our practice is built on a simple belief: the most successful homes are those where architecture, interiors and landscape are designed as one. While this is our philosophy today, it represents an evolution in our thinking – a journey that has shaped our team, our work, and our name.
This is the story of our journey from a dedicated architectural practice, Holland and Green, to the integrated, multidisciplinary studio we are today: HollandGreen.
Our Foundations in Architecture
Holland and Green was founded by architects Ben Holland and Stephen Green. From our studio in Thame, we built a reputation for designing thoughtful, elegant homes for clients across the Cotswolds, Oxfordshire, London and the Home Counties.
Our focus was on architectural excellence, creating beautiful, functional spaces. Through this work, however, we saw the potential for something more. We recognised that architecture alone was just one part of creating a home that feels entirely intuitive.
An Evolution Towards Integrated Design
To deliver a truly cohesive home, it became clear that a more joined-up approach was needed. We saw the value in having architects, interior designers, and landscape designers in a single, unified conversation from the very start of a project.
This insight became our guiding principle. We began to bring specialist Interior and Landscape Designers, alongside in-house Project Managers, into the Practice. This collaborative model allowed us to move beyond individual disciplines and begin designing the holistic, turnkey homes that are our hallmark today.
Becoming HollandGreen: A Unified Identity
As our team of specialists grew, our practice evolved far beyond its architectural origins. We were no longer just two founding partners, but a complete, multidisciplinary team working towards a shared vision. The name ‘Holland and Green’ no longer reflected the collective, integrated Practice we had become.
The move to HollandGreen was a natural and meaningful step. It was more than a change of name; it was a commitment to our new way of working, honouring the contribution of every specialist in our studio. The single name represents the joined-up thinking and shared purpose that defines our work and delivers a better, more considered result for our clients.
