Designing For Biodiversity

At Meadow View, our vision was to create a garden that was not only a beautiful retreat for our clients but also a thriving sanctuary for nature. This award-winning landscape is designed as a journey of discovery, weaving together ecological regeneration with the unique history of the site.

The garden unfolds along meandering paths that guide you through intimate woodlands and into an open, native wildflower meadow. At its heart lies a large wildlife pond, thoughtfully regenerated from a disused clay pit discovered on the grounds. By introducing a rich tapestry of native trees, shrubs and marginal plants, we have cultivated a series of interconnected habitats where local wildlife can flourish.

History is woven into the fabric of the landscape. During the initial clearance, we uncovered the foundations of a historic cottage, a discovery that inspired the creation of a unique garden folly. This charming tribute stands on the footprint of the original building, breathing new life into the story of the site.

Elsewhere, a stepping-stone path winds through a secluded woodland setting, sheltered beneath the magnificent canopy of tree ferns. This immersive walk leads to a destination fire pit crafted from corten steel, creating an intimate and serene setting for relaxing long into the evening.

It is this thoughtful, regenerative approach that led to Meadow View being named Best Domestic Sustainable Design in Pro Landscaper’s Sustainability & Biodiversity Awards 2023.
