Building Control
What is building control?
Building Control is the formal process that ensures any building work being undertaken complies with UK Building Regulations, of which are the national standards covering safety, structural integrity, energy efficiency, accessibility, and fire protection.
Once the Planning Application has been submitted, we will generally need to wait for Planning Approval before we begin to compile the Building Regulations drawings.
Where the Planning drawings demonstrate how the proposed alterations might change the look of the property and its impact on its surroundings, Building Control provides reassurance that every detail, from the structure itself to the performance of glazing, insulation, and mechanical systems, has been tested against rigorous benchmarks.

There are two types of Building Control Application; a Full Plans Application, which is for larger, more complex projects, and a Building Notice, which is for smaller projects.
Building Control is not about restricting creativity, but about safeguarding quality, longevity, sustainability, and legal compliance, so that your finished home or space is as sound as it is beautiful.
