A Modern Industrial Style New Build Nears Completion.

Stunning Views Across the Chiltern Hills 

We’re excited that the final building stages are taking place on this replacement dwelling, The Hide. What was once a rather darkly-lit bungalow is now a light-filled, 2 storey house with floor-to-ceiling glazing on both levels to take advantage of the south-facing views over the Chilterns, creating a connection between house and its surrounding countryside.

Award Recognition

The Hide has won Best Replacement Dwelling Design, South East, in BUILD’s Architectural Awards 2020.

As the property is in both the green belt and an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), the design marries the clients’ brief together with the Chiltern Hills Design guide. A selection of reclaimed and unique materials is in keeping with the local vernacular, with Chiltern red brick and black timber cladding a link to the regional style.

Crittal windows and Corten steel accents achieve an industrial feel to the clients’ brief, and moving the house slightly away from its slope has enabled an exciting entrance bridge, which will deliver more light to the lower level of the house.
