“Clients are increasingly focused on how their homes will support family life now and adapt as their needs change,” says James Hurst, Associate Director of Architecture.
“That leads to more considered architecture and better long-term outcomes.”
Investment is directed towards spatial quality, durability and flexibility. Kitchens are designed as family hubs rather than showpieces. Informal living areas take precedence over formal rooms. Materials are chosen for performance and longevity, not novelty.
Wellness Designed Into Everyday Living
Wellness has become a core driver of the forever home. Rather than standalone luxury features, clients are seeking environments that promote balance, comfort and wellbeing as part of everyday life.
“Wellbeing isn’t treated as a separate layer,” explains Tori Young, Creative Lead for Interior Design.
“Light, flow, storage and materiality all contribute to how a home supports its occupants physically and mentally.”
By deeply understanding each brief, we design homes with adaptable layouts, strong connections to the outdoors, and spaces that evolve with family life, from play and work to rest and retreat.
Rosewood Manor: Family Life At The Centre
Our project, Rosewood Manor in the Cotswolds, reflects this lifestyle-led approach. The project focused on reconfiguring a historic property to better support modern family living and long-term wellbeing.
The architectural design centred on creating a large kitchen–living space as the heart of the home. By combining two former reception rooms, the family now has a single, generous hub for everyday life, connected directly to the gardens through large areas of glazing and filled with natural light.
Bespoke joinery throughout the house supports practical family living, allowing spaces to remain organized and flexible over time. The primary bedroom was reconfigured to include a dressing room that supports daily routines rather than excess.
Wellness was also a key part of the brief. A dedicated Pilates Studio within the grounds allows the client to integrate physical wellbeing into daily life. Natural materials, plentiful daylight and strong indoor–outdoor connections create a space designed for long-term use rather than short-term impact.
Bishop’s Hall: Wellness Beyond The Walls
At Bishop’s Hall in Oxfordshire, the landscape was designed as an extension of daily living, with wellness at its core.
“Outdoor space is central to how these homes function,” says Mark Latchford, Director of Landscape Design at HollandGreen.
“The focus is on creating landscapes that encourage movement, rest and connection to nature over time.”
The gardens were restructured to support year-round use, incorporating a pool, outdoor sauna, hot tub and natural swimming pond. Native planting, meadowland and a restored wildlife pond enhance biodiversity and ensure the landscape matures sustainably.

The forever home represents a shift away from trend-led design towards longevity, wellness and personal relevance. Clients are investing with intent, creating homes that support family life, health and change over decades, not design cycles.
