For this Surrey family home, our landscape design focused on creating a refined sense of arrival. The result is a thoughtful and structured garden that connects the property to the rolling fields beyond, establishing a welcoming atmosphere from the moment you enter the grounds.
A key challenge for a property of this scale is designing an approach that feels both impressive and integrated with its surroundings. Our solution was to create a sweeping driveway lined with generous planting beds. This composition connects the home to its wider setting.
Evergreen topiary provides a strong, year-round framework, giving the garden a defined structure even in winter. This is softened by layered, textural planting, including swathes of ornamental grasses and perennials such as alliums, salvia and lavender, which introduce seasonal colour and gentle movement.
A central objective was to intentionally blur the transition between the formal garden and the surrounding countryside. To achieve this, mature trees were carefully positioned to frame key views from the house. This not only softens the garden’s boundaries but also strengthens the relationship between the interiors and the landscape, making the garden an ever-present part of daily life.
